In this work, a city’s inhabitants are viewed as a community that can work together to keep a “journal” for the city.

Urban Journal is an interactive installation built around a data broadcasting service system. The city’s inhabitants send in the journals entries that they have written using mobile phone SMS (Short Message Service) text messages. As the new entries come in, older entries are eliminated. This installation creates a “dialogue platform” for sharing and exchange, using the techniques of broadcasting to bring the participants into a network of dialog based on the concept of the global city.
