Digital Art Center Taipei Internship
I. Purpose
The main goal of this internship program is to provide local and foreign graduate
and undergraduate students internship opportunities involving museum research
and development with an aim to promote resource sharing and exchange in modern
and digital art.
II. Terms
1. Corresponding to the annual winter and summer vacation, the internship is one
month for winter, 2 months for summer.
2. Weekly schedule: Tuesday-Friday 9:00-18:00, Lunch break 12:00-13:00
(allowing for flexibility depending on work circumstances).
3. In case of a sick leave or other personal leave, please fill out a form asking for
time off and report absences in advance. If the sick leave cannot be reported in advance,
please report it the same day by phone.
4. Interns are expected to arrive at the Center at10:00 AM. Failure to arrive on
time without notice by phone will be considered as unapproved absence.
5. In case of unapproved absence exceeds 3 times, prompt notice will be send to
school and internship will be terminated.
III. Openings
1. Priority is given to students who are interested in digital art and museology as well
as special need and interest in fine arts museum practical training, and currently
enrolled in university in Taiwan or abroad for art or language related programs.
2. Openings for Information Technology, Electronics and Electronic Engineering fields
are only available at the Division of Technology Development. Students with interest
in installed art or software development can also apply for internship.
3. For foreign applicants, good command of either mandarin or English listening,
speaking and writing is required. Foreign applicants are responsible of obtaining
and extending their own visa.
IV. How to apply
1. Applicants must apply for winter vacation term before November 13; may 15 for
summer vacation term.
2. For personal applicant, send application form, resume, autobiography, copies
of transcripts of passed years and recommendation letter from adviser to: The Division
of Extension Education Digital Art Center Taipei No. 180, Fuhua Rd., shihlin Dis.,
Taipei, 111, Taiwan (Please note on the envelope that the application is for
applying internships)
3. Students recommended by school, please send the above mentioned materials
along with a statement of intention.
4. Qualified applications will be notified of a scheduled personal interview. Results will
be announced at the Center’s website.
V. Details of the internship
1. The division of Extension Education, Division of Exhibition and Division of
Technology Development will be in charge of the internship. In the first week, interns
will be guided to different sections in the divisions and become familiar with the
functions, staff.
2. Starting from the second week, each staff member involved with the internship
program makes arrangements and assigns duties to the intern.
3. Interns may attend lectures, internal training sessions, seminars and other
related courses if circumstances permit.
4. Report (at least 3,000 words) on internship must be submitted before the
internship ends.
5. Interns at the Division of Extension education will focus on extension education,
guided tour, e-news paper; Division of Exhibition will work on exhibition hall
service, exhibition pamphlets, proposals; Division of technology Development in charge
of technology development, software design and development.
6 Hands on practice
(1) Interns will be assigned to divisions of the center, corresponding to their major,
field of specialty and interest. To be familiar with the service, interns will also take part
in guided tour and service counter shift.
(2)Interns should wear badges for identification and return the badges upon completion
of internship.
VI. Evaluation
1. Interns will be evaluated on attendance, work diary, feedback, and overall work by
Division head and instructor.
2. Interns should report on time to the Center. Late arrival or early leave will not
be qualified for internship certificate.
3. Interns should follow the regulations in the Center, receiving instructions
from appointed supervisor. In case of the violations or unfit conduct, in which case,
the Center can terminate the internship and notify school. Badges should be return
and personal file will be kept in the Center for reference.
VII. The regulation is approved and valid by the Center’s administration meeting. Any amendment will follow the same procedure.
